Today is the 4th of July; A day to celebrate our liberation from the English crown and their taxes. Although things change, it looks like some things have stayed the same…err, taxes! But, enough about that. We woke up to a warm but breezy day. We first put out the crab trap, and then left the docks to go sailing. We had an uneventful morning which is always good. We saw lots of dolphins jumping and spied on some horses on Cumberland Island. In the early afternoon, we decided to head back in from the channel. The wind was behind us so Tony and I decided to take out the spinnaker. Just so you know, when I bought the boat six years ago, it came with the spinnaker and I have never sail with it, so this was going to be quite interesting. We took it out and wrestled with it for a full thirty minutes before we finally got the sail up and out forward of the boat. It turned out great and the boat sailed fast. I kept the wind off my starboard and sailed all the way into the St. Marys River. It was a blast. I will be doing that again soon! After that, we took down the sails and headed in. We docked easily. I was heading home earlier than everyone else so as soon as we docked, which was around 5:30, I hopped into my car for the five hour jaunt home. I got home right at 10. Tony, Preston, and the bunch stayed on the boat, ate the crab they caught in the crab trap and grill some steaks. I have posted some pictures below of the day’s activities. We, again, had a great time.
