February Ripples

General Notice:

It is the season when cruisers head south.  The following Club-members are not at "home port".

Mary & Christian Verlaque on "I Wanda" are somewhere south along the coast of Florida.

Ken Hix and female companion Belinda (who for the first time gets to experience what it is like to be Admiral), on "Duet" are now sailing with

Ed & Ann Jacks on "Windswept Dreams" somewhere in the southern Bahamas.

Chuck Shoemaker & Ally on "Kairos" seem to have to endure the Georgian Winter at Lang's East marina, until Chuck's tooth is fixed.

Bud & Tess Hinckley are in West Palm Beach and unfortunately Bud has some health problems.

Bob Roche's boat "Tamata" is on the hard for repair after a collision with a drifting boat.

Tom Chalkley aka Commodore & Sibille on "Gorilla" managed to return to home port after an Odyssey around the Abacos combined with a race against time, about which I'm sure we'll be reading in upcoming blogs.

That brings me to the next point. The website is more and more functional. The next step is to set up members who wish to entertain their own blog with that option. Some more tweaking is necessary, but as soon as the service is running you will be informed by email as to how, what, when.

Meanwhile Paul McDonald is entertaining us with stories of "Boater's Wisdom". Just follow the "Seagull$^%#"- link on the website and read his story. You can comment.

If there are any other members who like to contribute to "Seagull$^%#'s" please email Sibille Chalkley at sibilleherrin@earthlink.net.

Membership:

At long last, let me announce that "Richard Rose" is accepted as regular member into the Club. Welcome Richard.

Ann Jacks social membership is under consideration for upgrade to regular member. Any member who has a desenting opinion please address it to one or all of the board-members via email, prior to the decision making by the board which would be in two (2) weeks.

Let me also remind the membership to refer parties interested in becoming members to the website (stmyc.org) where under the Membership-link they can read up on the Bylaws, Membership-classes and print out the Application with instructions.

Elections for the "Board-members" is coming up and the "Nominating committee"  consists of "Bob Mackley, Bob Roche & Ann Jacks".

Finally the Club is "legally" accepted under the tax-status of C7. Meaning: except for 35%, all income must come from members. Also we're non-profit and under this tax-status donations are not tax-deductible for the doner.

Socials: The social activities enjoyed a rest period, but will resume starting this month.  The Friday morning gathering at "Cedar Oak Cafe" from 09:00 until noonish, enjoys growing popularity and the owner "Joe" is happy to have us.

Don't forget the day-sail with "Steelaway" on Friday the 13th. I believe it will also function as a "Birthday Party" for a couple of members.

The end of the month Social will be a "Chili cook-out". Appropriate for the season. The place will be announced, just keep checking the website.
